      Record of The Day

      ROTD#3: JARADA – Ma'agal Sina'a 12"

      ROTD#3: JARADA – Ma'agal Sina'a 12"

      Record Of The Day #3: JARADA – Ma'agal Sina'a 12"

Isreali based hardcore that offers up some hard hitting hardcore with lyrics in Hebrew, that are political and personal dealing with issues cultural-political  issues. The lyric sheet containing lyrics in both hebrew and english. This is powerful hardcore that comes with hard hitting lyrics. I have highlighted this record as one it and its predecessor which we had in the distro a few ago are both great but they also have a new 3rd 12" coming out 'No Co-Existence With... Jarada'

Blurb: After a debut full-length record a year ago Jarada already crafted eight new brickwalls for a new one sided 12″!

This Israeli band from Tel Aviv continues to deliver angry, punching and chaotic music to the table, with some really bleak and negative overtones that are intertwined with hebrew lyrics that are mixture of personal thoughts with some politics thrown in!

Ma’agal Sina’a means “A Circle of Hate” in hebrew and is a natural follow up to the earlier S/T 12″ and it deals with several issues which you can consider as “current events” from the past year and it also digs deeper into the emotional struggles and choices one needs to make to keep his or her shit together. On the one hand it may seem more cultural-political with songs like “Monopoly on Suffering” and “A Jewish State is a Circle of Hate” and on the other hand way more personal, with a self questioning and soul searching (“Riddance”, “I Was in the Army”).

As on the first record, you can expect fierceful vocals, chrushing hardcore riffs and plenty scraps of everything thats great about heavier side of punk music in the last decade.

      ROTD#2: TIM ARMSTRONG - A POET´S LIFE

      Record Of The Day #2: TIM ARMSTRONG - A POET´S LIFE 12"

Rancid frontman solo album he links up reggae revivalists Aggrolites to make a ska reggae dancehall punk album its pretty damn catchy if you ask me, I picked this as ROTD#2 as this week seen Tim link up again with former bandmate Jesse Michaels on a new band called Bad Optix (find out more here) but all I am wondering is what ever happened to Tim's project ZERSTÖREN with 3 members of Nausea and Rob from The Transplants

      Blurb:
Tim Armstrong, guitarist and frontman of Rancid took a different path on his 2007 solo debut, with able backing from L.A. reggae revivalists the Aggrolites, Armstrong crafted a grooving, fun-filled modern reggae album, influenced by ska, rock steady, roots reggae, and dancehall and filtered through a modern pop-punk attitude. The sound of the record (nimble, jumped-up, and retro but fully modern) impresses instantly, but as the record goes on, Armstrong?s voice emerges as the star. His raspy croon, staccato toasting, and ragged shout fit the reggae sound surprisingly well.

Record Of The Day #1: Litovsk - Maxi 12"

Record Of The Day #1: Litovsk - Maxi 12"

The idea is to highlight one record every day of the week, as to help people check out some of the great records available on the table and hopefully highlight something you may not normally check out or just check out even more great music. Hope to do one record a day during the week not weekends as I probably wont keep up with that. This should give you a little bit of info from us on the release background on the band or something to that effect, a stream so you can listen to the record and link to buy it and the normal blurb we copy and paste from who ever released the record. So here we go ROTD#1...

Record Of The Day #1: Litovsk - Maxi 12"

The third 12" from French anarcho/post punk Litovsk are back kicking off with some urgent post punk with 'Cerises et Grenades' that is familiar to previous recording before departing a more mature melancholic sound that is as equally captivating, that has kept it on heavy rotation. Comes with printed innersleeve and a slimline 8-page booklet.

Blurb: Growing up at the end of the world makes you feel unique and timeless things. There is universality in life apart from the excessive urbanism of big cities, rocked by the waves and a not so rare sun. The teenage years are those of endless summers where feelings and the taste for freedom enter a new dimension. LITOVSK takes a look at this period but also on its commitment to activism and questions its relationship to others, social determinism and religious faith. This record could be described as a kind of testimony but it’s much more than that : lyrics, music and artwork go in the same direction and form a rich protean ensemble. During these five songs, LITOVSK ventures into new territories with more melodies and more room for melancholy without losing anything of their singular sound and energy. This 12’’ was recorded between Leipzig and Brittany and it is brilliantly illustrated by Evan Luven’s full of sensitivity photos.
